Mungiguerra Celebrates “Dalaversary"
Happy Dalaversary to our Account Executive, Ashley Mungiguerra! Ashley has had one of the most unconventional first years at Dala, starting just before a global pandemic and getting to know her new team virtually over the past year. We spoke with Ashley about her time here, how she started in PR, and what she’s looking forward to this year.
How has your first year at Dala been?
“Oh, where to begin! I started on March 2, and by March 16, we were working from home full-time. I quickly settled into my home office, unaware it was for the long haul. I have kept in touch with my team through countless video calls, virtual happy hours, and check-ins. While I’ve had a very unusual first year, it’s been exciting to learn so much. I’m grateful to my team and being able to continue working with my clients as we all navigate these crazy times.”
Did you always want to work in PR?
“No! I didn’t know I wanted to work in PR until just before I graduated college. I originally wanted to study French and become an interpreter (I still earned a minor in French). Then, I aspired to be a TV journalist for years. I took the journalism experience I had from school and various internships and translated that into my current career. I’ve always loved writing and communicating, so PR was a natural fit.”
What’s something you want to do in the next year?
“I’m excited to see what I can achieve for my clients. From construction to commercial real estate to education, I love being able to jump from project to project and flex different PR muscles. Hopefully, as things ease back into a more ‘normal’ routine, we can get back to events. I miss the thrill of watching clients do live TV interviews (in person) and attending events. But if we have learned anything this year, it’s how to adjust your strategy to meet each client’s needs.”
What has been a highlight of your WFH year?
“Honestly, spending time at home has been an unexpected gift. My dogs are thrilled to have everyone home all day long, and I’ve been able to spend time doing things I love, like cooking, gardening, and even learning to needlepoint (yes, I’m a true #grandmillennial). But as an avid traveler, I’m ready to get back on the road and continue checking off places on my bucket list!”
